Weekend report 12/9-12/12

Headed back up north Thursday afternoon with alex with the intentions of doing some bird hunting a little bit of muzzle-loader hunting and some Steelhead fishing along with my scheduled guide trip I had booked for Saturday. Thusday night once we arrived consisted primarily of visiting with family. Friday did a little looking for deer before heading below Foote site to try and find some chrome. Found some fishy water, managed a few hook-ups but didn't hit it all too hard. That afternoon Alex, Kevin and I headed to the Frame's property and walked it in hopes of some birds, I missed one, Kevin Barney Fifed on one but it was fun. After that we did some more visiting with gramps. Saturday I had a two person, full-day Steelhead trip booked for the lower AuSable. Trip went well, the fishing was good, the catching sucked. But the father and son team from Flint had a great time and have already inquired about booking another trip.

After a couple great days up north we began heading home, almost 6 hours later and a count of 36 spin-outs later we finally made it back. Have some work lined for myself this week before heading back up for the family X-mas party and hopefully some ice fishing up there. Planning on checking a couple local spots this week for some good ice and some good fish. Ice is still sketchy in many places, so be careful out there and stay warm. til next time, good luck and tight lines!

I'm back...

Decided to start utilizing this page again, a couple people have mentioned it and I've been meaning to get back at it. Pretty much stopped last winter when the outdoor life slowed down and the work life and wedding planning picked up. Anyways, to catch up... Was married June 26th to my wonderful wife Ashley. Made a career move from government work back to welding and then to being laid off(is what it is). Operated a number of Salmon and Steelhead trips this past fall and had a very successful deer season. New reports will be starting today and I hope to keep them coming.

Update

Well there's not a whole lot new and excting going on these days. Been busy with work, planning for the wedding and building the official ZS Guide Services website. Have been dealing with a knee injury for the past few months that has kept me somewhat limited on my outings, the few times I have been out on the ice has produced some fish here and there for me, I've hit the river a couple times with little success as of late. The fishing in the river systems is going to pick up soon, the die hard ice fisherman in me really hates to say I am ready for the warmer weather, but I am. I am ready for ice out and the spring runs to start, usually these next couple weeks during a warm up, the Huron river Walleye runs starts trickling in along with the early spring Steelhead run. A few weeks from now the rivers up north are going to be getting their annual pushes of the same and I hope to be there, guiding a client to some really nice fish. Do me a favor and check out the site @ www.zsguideservices.com let me know what you think, check the forums often for updated fishing conditions and reports from around the state. J is really doing an awesome job with the site and things seem like they're rolling right along in me getting this thing up and rolling.

hope to write something new soon!
good luck and tight lines!
